Direct Integration Into Excel
The Oceanbolt Excel Add-in provides direct access to data available in the Oceanbolt Data Platform in a familiar and easy way.
Note: The Oceanbolt Excel Add-in is only available to clients who subscribe to our API plan.
Installing the Add-in
The add-in can be installed in the following way:
Download the zipped installation files: Download Oceanbolt Excel Add-in
Unzip the files into a temporary directory
Click and run the setup.exe file
Select a suitable installation location
The add-in should now be installed and ready to use.
Using the Add-in
The add-in is available in the top panel of Excel as a custom menu. With the add-in, you can create and edit queries and refresh existing queries.
In order to use the Excel add-in, you will have to create an API access token which can be generated in the Oceanbolt App.
To create an API access token, do the following:
Go to the profile page and click the API Access Tokens tab.
Create a new API key by choosing a name and an expiration date.
Enter the new API token into the form when prompted by the add-in.
The add-in has a range of different data types available. Each query is easily customized and adapted through the query form editor.
Older Versions of Office
The Excel add-in uses dynamic array formulas not supported by older versions of Office. If you have an older version of Office, you will need to disable this feature in the Settings tab of the add-in menu. The add-in will still work correctly, but performance may be slightly degraded.
