VMS - Mediterranean Sea ECA Solutions Overview
The document below is designed to aid VMS customers in managing the Mediterranean Sea ECA zone, effective as of 1 May 2025. This feature has already been enabled in VMS. The purpose of launching it prior to May 1 is to allow clients to run estimates currently that will happen after May 1, 2025. Below, you will find how to handle voyages in the interim period that you would not like to be affected by this update.

New Mediterranean Sea ECA zone launched in VMS
We have updated our distance engines and maps to support the new Mediterranean ECA Zone. The new zone will now be visible on the map.
Estimate & Voyage Impact
Estimates and voyages in the area will now be updated to reflect ECA fuel grade consumption.
Transitional Period PRIOR to May 1, 2025
If you wish the voyage not to be affected by the new regulations, please see the below options:
Utilising the “Deltas
" on the Bunker Consumption page will manually adjust the bunker consumption calculation based on the value entered.
Clicking Dist (Distance) on the specific leg in the Estimates/Voyages overview page. VMS will show the non-ECA and ECA distance sailed from the previous port to the current port. You can manually adjust the distance sailed in the ECA zone, which will also adjust the bunker consumption.
